...is the farm! Here and there around the Broken Tractor Farm, between the paintball, the woods, the winery, the cabin, you'll find an abundance of home-grown goodness!
The old-timers certainly knew how to feed themselves! Moving onto an old farmstead comes with the remains of the old orchard. The fruit that remains all survived several decades of neglect, so we know that it is really hardy on its own! Raspberries, apples, pears, plums, cherries, elderberries, blackberries (and the list goes on) that have survived on their own certainly won't be improved by any chemicals! It has been a joy to expand upon what generations before have maintained.
This is the part that sparked the winery! Preference is given to grapes that are cold-hardy and disease-resistant. There are around 400 vines from baby to mature. The majority are Marechal Foch, Frontenac, Corot Noir, Landot Noir, Sabrevois, Traminette, and a few others.
Yes, all of our herbs are legal! Our herbs range from culinary to medicinal. There are too many to remember, but standards include rosemary, chamomile, several mints, lavendar, wormwood, and St. John's Wort. We are proud to have teamed up with a local skin-care products company named Dewy You! Dewy You's products can be found here.
Starting in 2017, we took a remote five-acre field tucked away in one of the farm's recesses and started a pumpkin patch! This is a spooky place in the fall! We look forward to expanding this in the future, so please plan on us for your Halloween needs!
Bees are just good to have around! In addition to helping every part of the farm, they make honey. It's for sale at the farmstand and at the winery. Dewy You has also started incorporating it in their face masks, which can be found here.
